As you browse through our website and sample the experiences and achievements of our pupils, please remember that we can only give you a small taste of the busy, happy buzz of our school. To really experience it for yourself I would urge you to come and see us and find out how we can support your child to achieve their full potential. Please contact our Admissions Registrar and she will be delighted to arrange this for you.
We believe that education is about the development of the whole person. Westfield pupils embrace challenge and opportunity. Their remarkable talents and aspirations inspire the whole community, making this a truly exceptional place to work and learn. Above all, this is a school of individuals; where every child is understood for the person they are and will become.
We are a proudly non-selective school, we feel that a balanced community is better for our pupils and I believe that it helps them thrive. Rather than being in an academic hot-house we give a broad education but our results don’t suffer from this, far from it. At A level we had well over a third of our pupils achieving A*/A grades and our value-added score was in the top 3% of schools in the country. I believe these outcomes are due to our excellent teachers and their individual knowledge of each child - small class sizes where no-one can hide and everyone is supported, and the positive attitude that we encourage and develop in our pupils.
In fact, one of the best moments of results days in August is watching those pupils who have maybe struggled a little more in some subjects opening their envelopes. Seeing their huge smiles when they have achieved results they had only dreamed about is one of the best feelings in the world.
From looking around our website you will see that we are a school that values self-discovery as much as academics, and creativity as much as STEM. We believe in and invest in our pupils: every single one of them is talented, some academically, some creatively, some on the sporting field. What is so good about Westfield is that we give all our pupils the opportunity to find out where their talents lie, the support to develop them and the space to express themselves. We believe in leadership and know that we are nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. Young adults who are confident, outgoing, resilient and optimistic. Individuals who care about others before themselves, and who are open to the differences within the world, and how we are all similar underneath.
Our recent move to welcome boys to join the girls in Junior House enables us to extend our warm, ambitious and inclusive environment to more families. We will continue to create confident, curious learners in a setting that offers exceptional individual support and teaching. We are not following a trend but doing what is right for our pupils; joint teaching at a younger age and single-sex when they are older.
In Senior House, we feel it is important for girls to have the space that allows them to study free of judgment and stereotype in a facilitating and empowering environment. There is an ever-growing body of evidence that in external exams, girls in girls' schools still outperform boys and girls in co-educational schools. From wellbeing to growing up in a changing world, teenage girls thrive in an all-girl environment that they will continue to enjoy in Westfield Senior House.
There is certainly something special about Westfield and I am delighted to invite you to visit us so that you can experience at first hand this very special atmosphere. We all want the best for all our children and for their future. I firmly believe that Westfield is that best.
