From September 2025, Westfield will begin welcoming boys into its Junior School for the first time, marking a new chapter in its history, which has long been known for its nurturing, academically ambitious education for girls aged 3 to 18.
The decision comes in response to parental requests for their sons to have access to the same exceptional early years education as their daughters. Building on the success of its junior programme, Westfield will now extend its values-led, high-quality learning environment to both boys and girls from Nursery to Year 6.
Headmaster Neil Walker commented,
"This change is a thoughtful and positive step forward. Our Junior School has flourished in recent years, and parents rightly want the same rich educational start for all their children. Westfield offers a broad curriculum focusing on skill and character development, including Beach and Forest School.
We rewrote our Junior curriculum two years ago to focus on delivering learning at the point that our pupils are ready so we teach by stage not by age throughout Early Years and Key Stage 1. By opening our doors to boys, we continue our mission to create confident, curious learners in a setting that reflects the collaborative nature of the wider world, while proudly maintaining our dedicated Senior School for girls."
While Westfield’s Junior School will now be co-educational, the Senior School will remain single-sex, preserving the tailored academic and pastoral environment in which older girls thrive.
Chair of Governors Mrs Jackie Rowley added,
"This development reflects what families need today - continuity, flexibility and excellence. We remain committed to knowing every child, valuing every voice, and delivering a distinctive education rooted in care, character and ambition."
Interested parents should contact the Admissions Team as soon as possible for September 2025 entry. An Open Day will also take place on Saturday 4 October 2025 offering prospective families the opportunity to explore the Junior School and meet staff.
