GCSE Results 2021

After the global difficulties of the last two years, Westfield’s great GCSE results are a testament to the tenacity, dedication and application of the girls and staff.

I am absolutely delighted with everyone’s achievements; all our pupils and teachers deserve huge credit for having weathered the storm of the past 18 months.’ Mr Neil Walker, Headmaster, said.

Following on from a successful set of A Level results on Tuesday, it was lovely to welcome our Year 11 (Upper 5) pupils back to school to receive their GCSE grades and to see their reactions as they opened their results.

Jess has achieved four 9’s, four 8’s and two grade 7’s and is absolutely delighted with her results: ‘I have done much better than I expected to this time last year.   I have worked really hard but my teachers have always gone that extra mile for me, especially during lockdown; they always made sure I was learning and engaged.   At A level, I am going to do Maths, Physics and RPE (Religion, Philosophy and Ethics) – the teachers here have always inspired me and I can’t wait to get back to school.

Jess’s mum, Jane, says ‘I could hear all of Jess’s lessons during lockdown.   Her teachers at Westfield were absolutely amazing; they gave her the self -belief that she could do well and now we have the evidence.’

Ruby has been at Westfield since Year 7 and is going to study Geography, English and Politics at A Level. ‘The teachers have always been so attentive; there has never been a time where I couldn’t go for help.   I am so happy with my results’.

Nyasha is going to study Geography, English Language and Biology at A Level. ‘My results are so much better than they could have been.   It has been a strange few months but as a class we have all been in it together.   It has been a group effort; no one wanted anyone to fail and we all looked out for each other.’

In addition, the school was delighted to receive news on the results of their external pupils from UTC who have achieved grade 8’s and 9’s in Further Maths. Our outreach programme, supported by the Reece Foundation, is an extra GCSE qualification that offers girls a much wider choice of skills and opportunities in STEM careers.
