Boys Belong Here Too: All-Girls’ Independent School Officially Welcomes Boys for the First Time
It was a historic day at Westfield as we recently welcomed our first boy through the doors of our prestigious Oakfield Road campus in Gosforth. This milestone marks a significant strategic development, building on the strong success of our Junior programme for girls and which now is open to boys.
“It’s a truly historic moment for us, as we prepare to welcome more boys and it stands as a testament to our dedicated staff and governors who continually ensure Westfield remains an exceptional school.”
The announcement follows strong endorsement from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI)—the DfE-approved equivalent to Ofsted for independent schools. Highlights from our recent inspection report include:
- “High-quality pastoral care ensures that pupils learn and play in a safe and supportive environment, with their wellbeing prioritised.”
- “Pupils experience a wide range of subjects and learning opportunities that prepare them well for future study and life beyond school.”
Headmaster Mr Neil Walker commented:
“Our exceptional inspection report confirms what our families already know – outstanding education, care and opportunity for every child. Our success places us proudly as an exceptional independent school in the heart of Gosforth.”
