A Level Results 2022

Our congratulations go to all our Upper 6th leavers who have worked so diligently and consistently throughout their studies and are now heading on to their next exciting destinations. Today, we celebrate a fantastic set of results with an overall 98% pass rate and 90% securing their first choice University destination.

This year group went through the shock of having their GCSEs cancelled but have enjoyed being back to proper exams and have a lot to celebrate.

‘I am extremely proud of the girls’ resilience and the true Westfield spirit they have shown throughout their time here, some of them have been with us since nursery. We wish them all the best for the future and look forward to hearing about their next steps beyond school.’

Mr Walker, Headmaster.

‘I have loved supporting this exceptional group of Sixth Formers who have worked extremely hard and achieved great things despite the challenges of the pandemic. For me, they are not defined by just their exam results but by the way they have embraced every part of Sixth Form life at Westfield. They have become fantastic role models for the whole school and I am so proud of them; they leave us with a positive legacy and I can’t wait to hear from them when they come back to visit.’

Head of Sixth Form, Mrs McGowan

Estelle is from Holy Island and has been at Westfield since the Spring of Year 10. Upon joining, she got straight to work with her GCSE studies whilst pursuing her passion in stand-up comedy.

‘I am extremely happy, I am heading to Edinburgh University to study Russian Studies with Linguistics and I can’t wait to get started; it’s been a really difficult year but I have worked really hard and it’s all thanks to all the support and guidance the school has given me, I feel really lucky to be in the position I am in right now.’

Olivia is from Gateshead and has been at Westfield for just 3 years.

‘I am heading to Durham University to study Law, it’s my top choice University and I’ve always been interested in Law as I am a great problem solver; I’ve loved every second of my time at Westfield, I am actually heartbroken to be leaving, I gained a family here when I joined in 2019 and I feel like coming here has set me up for life. I’ve worked really hard and all my subject teachers have been amazing but special mention goes to Mrs McGowan (Head of Sixth Form) who not only helped me with my UCAS application, she has supported me in so many areas of my life and shaped the way I want to be’

Saffy is heading to Newcastle University to study Genetics

‘I am so happy about my results, my teachers have been absolutely amazing, they have really helped me every step of the way and I can’t thank them enough, I am now going exactly where I want to go and onto the course I set out to do, I can’t wait!’

Ellie has been at Westfield since the age of 3 and is heading to the University of East Anglia

‘I am so happy and relieved, English Literature has always been my passion, I am obsessed with books and reading, I just love it! It’s going to be really weird for me as Westfield has been my home since nursery, 16 years I have been here and I actually can’t quite believe it; Dr Leng and Mrs McGowan have been really inspirational and I am also really excited as Mrs McGowan went to UEA and I feel like I am heading in the best pathway I could possibly ask for’

Lily has been at Westfield since Year 7 and is heading to Newcastle University to study Physics.

‘I am extremely happy with my results and to study Physics is my absolute dream come true, I can’t thank my teachers enough; I remember being really shy and guarded when I first arrived but I can truly say that this school has helped me develop and flourish into the person I am today’

‘Words cannot describe how happy I am for Lily, from the minute she arrived at Westfield, it has been beyond anyone’s expectations how she has developed and achieved what she has in every aspect of her life’ Lily’s dad
