We were extremely excited to get outside and get planting!

We filled our plant pots with compost.  It took quite a few cupfuls to fill the pot.

b

Ava's cup got a bit squished!

b

Charlotte was comparing the size of the cup with the size of the pot.

c

Rosie was counting how many cupfuls, but it was tricky to actually get the cup full!

j

Then it was time to put the seeds into the plant pots and of course give them some water.

We are doing control experiments and have left one pot in the dark, with water and one in the light, without water.

This will help us determine what plants need for healthy growth.

UPDATE!

When we returned after the half-term holiday. look what we found...

c

This was the pot that had been in the dark.  The bean plant has grown tall but is a rather strange colour!

v

This is the pot with no water!  No signs of growth.

c

These are the beans that had light and water.  One bean has not grown.  We are going to discuss why we think that is.

We will be measuring how tall our beans are.
