Nissan visit
U3 and U4 visited the Nissan HQ in Sunderland where they learned about all the processes involved in building a car. Most importantly they learned about the huge gender imbalance of women working in engineering.

Margaret U3 ‘It was great to learn about the Nissan Leaf as it is their eco-friendly model, hopefully in the future all cars will be made that way with zero emissions. I also learned about all the different types of engineering jobs out there and that the majority of the women at Nissan worked in the offices and there were hardly any doing engineering roles. I think we counted just 2 on the factory floor when we were there’

Aria U3 ‘We got to see every process of a car being put together from beginning to end. There were car parts everywhere around us, I’d look up and there would be tyres and all sorts. It was really interesting to see it all happen’
