Outdoor PursuitsOutdoor Pursuits are thriving at Westfield, with several opportunities offered to the girls at each stage of their school career.
Induction Days are held for the Year 7 girls on their first day at Westfield with an emphasis on teamwork which allows the girls to really get to know each other. There are opportunities for residential visits to various outdoor centres as well as enjoying overnight camps at school. Navigation and leaderships skills are developed as the girls move up the school with opportunities to enjoy walking and camping in the Northumberland countryside.
Upper Four spend a week in Cumbria staying at an Outdoor Centre in the Lake District. The week has a cross-curricular theme which includes English and Drama as well as personal development through outdoor and adventurous activities and teamwork. New entrants to Westfield at this age quickly settle in and make new friends. Girls may choose to do their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Girls also take part in outdoor pursuits and adventurous activities through Round Square conferences and visits.
