Our little ones came back from the Workhouse!
02 May 2012
Girls from Upper Two had an eye-opening experience at The National Trust property, The Workhouse in Southwell, Nottinghamshire.
The girls stepped back in time to see what it was like to be a pauper in the workhouse, trying out the dormitories, wearing paupers' costumes, exploring the segregated work yards, day rooms and visiting the master's quarters and the cellars. On the way home, they visited the Thackray Museum in Leeds to discover how medicine has changed through the years and discover more about life in the Victorian age. They all thoroughly enjoyed their adventure and most definitely appreciate life at Westfield School Junior House.
