Visit for Armin-Maiwald Schule to Westfield School, February 2013

By popular request, an extra visit was put into the Comenius programme to allow the final year pupils at Armin-Maiwald Schule to visit England. For some of these children this was a reunion of friends, following the meeting in November. For others, new friendships were formed.

Comenius Project Meeting 2013: 24-28 June at Ermitage

The summer meeting took place at our French partner school, Ermitage, in Maisons-Lafitte near Paris. Nine Lower Three girls, together with Madame Collier and Mrs Branson, travelled by train all the way from Newcastle to Maisons-Lafitte, a long but very comfortable and interesting journey. From the station the girls were taken by school minibus to Ermitage, where their hosts were waiting to take them home.

Highlights from our Comenius Weekend with our friends from France and Germany ? May 2014

Thursday 8th May -we were delighted to welcome staff and students visiting Westfield from our Comenius Partner schools, Ermitage (Paris) and Armin-Maiwald Schule (Dusseldorf). The delegates met their host families and relaxed following their journey.

Friday 9th May - We all spent an exciting day in school. During the morning Upper Two, Lower Three and our visiting delegates took part in a designing and making task exploring "cams" with Technology Tom, a favourite at Westfield. The afternoon was dedicated to the expressive arts! Steph Smith, a professional dance tutor, ran a street dance workshop and the children made wooden spoon puppets based on characters from "traditional tales."

Saturday 10th May - A wonderful day was spent at Broomley Grange Activities Centre. Everyone had a fantastic time taking part in activities ranging from high ropes, climbing wall, zip-wire and obstacle course but the favourite activity had to be the water slide.

Sunday 11th May - Time to relax and enjoy the local area with host families then back to school for a BBQ and disco.
