The Archbishop of York Young Leaders' Award'Be the Change You Want to See', 'Empowering Young People to Change their Community.'
We are delighted to announce an exciting new opportunity for girls in our current Upper Four year group. We would like to be the first in the North East to pilot the Archbishop of York Young Leaders' Award for girls who will be in Upper Four starting September 2013. The Award offers the opportunity for girls to be involved in a volunteering project which will serve both the school and the local community, whilst being taught three key concepts of leadership. The Award is quickly becoming popular in other areas of the country and it provides valuable life skills as well as a recognisable award at the end of Upper Four. The Award can be seen as a precursor to the successful Duke of the Edinburgh Award and it fits in well with our Round Square philosophy and UNESCO extra-curricular classes.
Successful completion of the award includes providing a portfolio of evidence of learning from the lessons in Leadership and the completion of a personal volunteering challenge examination. Further information is available on Archbishop of York Young Leaders' Award website - www.archbishopofyorkyouthtrust.co.uk.
